25 Apr The Fundaments of Waldorf Education
4/F, 760 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Lai Chi Kok
As we grow from infancy to adulthood, we see many changes in human development. Rudolf Steiner has indicated that we can support human development through an age-appropriate education/curriculum. As a background to Waldorf Education, Anthroposophy is a path of knowledge or spiritual research, developed on the basis of European idealistic philosophy, rooted in the philosophies of Aristotle, Plato, and Thomas Aquinas.
Christof Wiechert will be giving a lecture on the fundamentals of Anthroposophy behind Waldorf Education. Christof will guide us through the different developmental stages of the human being. The four-fold nature (Physical, Etheric, Astral and Ego) and the threefold nature (Rhythmic or Heart-lung system, Nerve-sense system, Metabolic-limb system) of the human being, in connection with education.
About Christof: Mr. Wiechert has 30 years teaching experience in Waldorf schools and 15 years in research institutions. He is the co-founder of the Dutch State Waldorf Education Centre in the Netherlands. Mr. Wiechert is the retired head of the Educational Section of the School of Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland. He brings a great appreciation for challenges in the life of the teacher and a deep understanding of the spiritual foundations of the pedagogy.
