About Balancd Fitness
Balancd Fitness is a social start-up with aims to help people improve their mind and body balance through Qigong and Tai Chi. Collaborating with doctors, physiotherapists & Tai Chi Masters, the team has created easy-to-follow programs that focuses on: mind/body coordination, strength training and injury prevention. By doing so, Balancd Fitness hopes to spread the health benefits of traditional Chinese martial arts, and to bring modern and scientific solutions to the public.
The team use fit tests to measure progress, most of their students are able to significantly improve their health in as little as 8 weeks! To achieve this goal, they offer a Mobile App called “balancd”, exercise classes and have published a book to cater different customer needs.
The Founding Story
Sara is the Founder of Balancd Fitness. Balancd was founded because Sara’s mum’s biggest fear – falling. Sara was concerned about her mum’s health so she started looking for training programmes for her. Unfortunately, what was available were generally too vigorous, high impact or likely to cause injury. She sought help from physiotherapists and doctors for their expert opinion. As it turns out, one of the most effective ways to improve balance is to learn Chinese martial arts. Research shows that if you practice Tai Chi for six months, your risk of falling decreases by half. By good fortune Sara met her Sifu, Grandmaster Lung Kai-ming. Sifu has always been passionate about teaching Kung Fu in the community. Balancd Fitness used his time-honoured formula for teaching and designed an easy-to-learn programme, integrating Shaolin basic training and the ancient art of Baduanjin Qigong.
Who should care?
The Balancd programmes appeal to a wide range of people. Some are office workers looking for a more mindful approach exercise and correct postural issues. Some are older students looking for an effective way to improve their health whilst socialising with friends. Their students’ levels of flexibility, strength and experience vary too, but one thing that all their students enjoy is an accessible way to achieve balance.
